Happy 70th Birthday to Joyce Meyer

For the past few years, I have been a Joyce Meyer fan.  I have watched her television show, downloaded her broadcasts to my Ipod, and read her books.  I have listened to her CD’s and loaned them to family and friends.  I can honestly say that she has helped me grow in my Christian walk more than anyone else ever has in the 42 years I have been a Christian, with the exception of my first pastor.

I am on her mailing list, and when I received a newsletter that her children sent to supporters about her upcoming birthday, I wrote this poem.  I sent it to Joyce Meyer Ministry, and I share it with you who read my blog.

Happy 70th  Birthday, Joyce!

The Hall of Faith

Dedicated to Joyce Meyer on the occasion of her 70th birthday

Faith is the substance of the things we hope to see.

We exercise that faith when with our Lord we do agree.

Through faithful trust and fervor, the holy men of old

Did wondrous works equipped by God, works righteous, good, and bold.

By faith, Abel brought a better sacrifice than Cain.

And though he died, his sacrifice bore witness to the Name

Of God, who is the Author and Finisher of all faith,

Who sent His Son to suffer and to die for our mistakes.

By faith was Enoch caught up so death he did not glimpse

Because God had translated him, we haven’t seen him since.

He was taken up to heaven, his work the Father pleased.

And all who would come near to God must earnestly believe.

By faith Noah, warned by God, of things as yet to come

Constructed and prepared an ark and took not only one,

But two of every animal, into the wooden boat.

And though he’d never seen the rain, believed the ark would float.

By faith, Father Abraham obeyed when called to go.

He would receive a place, God said, but where he did not know.

Because of faith a land was built whose maker is our God.

And Abraham, a nation birthed, and on this land, he trod.

By faith, Sarah in old age, in strength, conceived a seed

To bear a child when she was past the age when most can breed.

Isaac was the first of many—innumerable as the sand.

And trusted when it seemed he was a sacrificial lamb.

But God did see that Abraham was faithful ‘til the end,

And in the thicket placed a ram for sacrifice instead.

And many other faithful acts performed by faithful men

Are written down for us to read, reminded once again

That all who’ve gone before us, sustained by their great faith,

Were really only strangers here; they sought a better place.

And though they’ve gone before us, there are others to this day

Who walk in faith and victory and show a better way.

Among them is a woman, whose trials and victories

Are shared around the world each day for everyone to see.

She has a heart for people; she works so tirelessly

To spread the Good News of our Lord, so all who come can be

Renewed in mind and spirit, healed deep within the soul,

Accepting Jesus’ love for them—the One Who makes them whole.

And on this very special day, we celebrate her birth.

She’s helped so many understand their value and their worth.

We honor her and wish her blessedness in all her days.

She who reverently fears the Lord shall in the end be praised!

Until next time,

CKelli
